This position is a technical lead that develops custom application software in test, development and production environments. The position is responsible for the coordination of some day-to-day tasks for the team. The technical lead sets the strategic direction and develops the architecture for custom applications, is a project lead, and makes policy recommendations to management.

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or closely related field; -
Four years’ experience in a related area; -
Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Competencies:
Knowledge of:

Theory and practices of software development including source control, continuous integration, and test driven development; -
Algorithmic and logic pattern matching, logical what-if analysis, and problem decomposition and synthesis; -
The space and time tradeoffs of the basic data structures; -
Agile development methodology.
Ability to:

Effectively communicate with diverse levels of management and stakeholders; -
Delegate projects as needed to ensure multiple priorities are met; -
Troubleshoot issues in complex, multiple tiered software applications; -
Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems; -
Use source control features; including branching and merging; -
Design a normalized database schema and use views, stored procedures, triggers and user defined types; -
Conduct tests of custom software applications, services, or processes to evaluate quality and performance; -
Lead the day-to-day tasks of a technical IT team; -
Identify problems, emerging issues and trends, and establish strategies to address them.
