Montana Shared Catalog Training & Technical Support
Special Information:
The Montana Shared Catalog seeks an empathetic, self-motivated, and experienced trainer to fill our Training and Technical Support position. This may be a telework position or based in our Helena, Montana office. This position is responsible for developing resources and continuing education that assist libraries with day-to-day tasks, proactively addressing the training needs on emerging topics related to the MSC, and providing technical support as part of the MSC team.

Duties:
This position develops and manages the Montana Shared Catalog’s training program and recruits and trains assistant trainers from within the consortium membership. The position also provides technical support and assists other members of the MSC support team with overall system operations. The job involves working with the current integrated library system (SirsiDynix Symphony) to provide training and technical support for the library members of the consortium. The work requires a strong understanding of the Symphony Workflows configuration and library management modules along with related web applications. It will require occasional travel to libraries throughout the state to provide on-site training for MSC member librarians.

The ability to create, maintain and present training materials online, face to face, and in print. F amiliar with library cataloging and circulation standards; basic hardware, software application and network skills; and skill in operating, configuring and resolving problems in an integrated library system (ILS) and in operating personal computers including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheets, databases and web applications. The ability to communicate technical issues in an often non-technical and consistently supportive manner. The ability to be flexible due to stressful situations or less than ideal training conditions.
Education/Experience:
At least 2 years job-related college training and at least 1 year job-related work experience and experience preparing and presenting training materials. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work related experience or experience with the Montana Shared Catalog and/or an integrated library system is preferred.
