JOB OVERVIEW:

Are you a skilled software developer who enjoys working in a fast-paced technical environment? Do flexible work schedules, agile development, team building and collaboration appeal to you? If so, please consider applying for a software developer position with our agency. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, communicates professionally and effectively, and is able to work both independently and as part of an agile team.

As a software developer, you will be responsible for working on enterprise level applications, utilizing Java and JavaScript frameworks, to meet the needs of any size project from low to high complexity, with minimal guidance and direction from management. Specific responsibilities may include:
  • analyzing, designing, coding and testing of software programs and applications.
  • supporting development of test plans, testing, implementation and training activities.
  • supporting post-implementation activities including analyzing issues and correcting code as needed.
  • producing quality and maintainable software every time.


Qualifications:


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

If you are the right person for this opportunity, you will have the following knowledge, skills or abilities:
  • Experience in multi-tiered, enterprise application systems in Java technologies.
  • Experience working with Java and Javascript is a plus.
  • Experience of the following is highly desirable: JAVA 1.7 & higher, Any messaging system, JBoss/Wildfly server, Tomcat, Linux, HTTP, SOAP/REST Web Services, XML, JSON.
  • Solid engineering experiences working on EJBs and the web layer, Spring Framework, Maven.
  • Strong understanding of Algorithms and Data Structures.
  • Knowledge of Java Unit Testing Frameworks and Tools such as JUnit, TestNG, Mockito etc.
  • Strong and demonstrable experience working in design and development of public facing & private REST APIs.
  • Significant and demonstrable experience of implementing Java best practice – especially around scalability, availability and performance.
  • Knowledge of PL/SQL, stored procedures, schema design in large scale relational databases such as Oracle and MS SQL.
  • Track record of delivering excellent customer experiences.
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, communication, organization and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical thinking - able to simplify complex problems, processes or projects into component parts explore and evaluate them systematically.
  • Independent thinker with creative, resourceful and proactive problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team player.
  • Experience and understanding of software source control systems, preferably SVN.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Any combination of relevant education and experience equivalent to five (5) years will be considered. A degree is not necessary to meet the requirements. Education and experience may include coursework in a field such as computers, and information technology and/or work experience that involved software development, database management and web platform development.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Your paycheck is just part of your total compensation package! Upon date of hire, employees working at least half-time for more than six months are eligible for state paid premiums toward employee “core” medical, dental, and basic life insurance coverage. Employees earn 15 working days of annual leave, 12 days of sick leave and 10-11 paid holidays each year. Membership in a Retirement System - vesting criteria applies.
