Accounting Tech
The Director's Office for the Department of Commerce is looking for an Accounting Tech with rich experience in accounts payable and receivable and providing excellent customer service. This position requires unparalleled integrity, initiative, resourcefulness and consistency with administering accounting principles.
This position is responsible for all accounts payable for the agency. This includes payments to outside vendors and other State agencies, as well as reimbursement of employee travel expenses. This position also provides financial services for the department in the areas of accounts receivable, contract management, records management, and cash handling, to ensure all accounting transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate Degree or two (2) years post secondary plus two (2) years of job related experience. Prefer degree in Business/Finance.
Knowledge:
Working knowledge of bookkeeping principles and procedures; general accounting principles and practices.
Preferred knowledge: accounts payable, deposits, State Accounting, Budgeting, Human Resource System (SABHRS); state government operations; contract requirements; State of Montana Purchasing Regulations; State of Montana Travel Regulations.
Skills:
Skill in the operation of computer systems and personal computers for word processing and spreadsheet preparation. This position requires skill in the use of basic office equipment and calculators for mathematical computations. Proficiency in Excel required.
Ability:
Ability to commit to task assignments and team efforts. Ability to communicate effectively and proficiently both orally and in writing. Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize workloads to meet continual deadlines. Ability to reconcile accounting records and resolves problems through proper application of accounting methods and practices. Ability to interpret state and federal travel laws and regulations; research and gather information; make mathematical computations rapidly and accurately; follow written and verbal instructions; complete work assignments without continual direction. The incumbent must have the essential ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, other employees and agencies and possess excellent customer service skills.
